Stepping back in time..

Do you have a spare million dollars plus! Walking along Palmerston Street in North Perth, one of Perth's older established suburbs five minutes from the city, on the hunt for a particular mural, it's impossible not to admire the fully restored and renovated cottages, some built in the very early 1900's.  I wonder what this street looked like back then and if the first occupants ever thought their property would one day be worth so much.. eh, hindsight, should have picked up a couple when they were going for a song :) Picture on the front page of the paper yesterday. Mother and calf in the clear waters off the coast in the same spot where Bill took yesterdays shots, taken from above using a drone.. aren't they fabulous! Happy Thursday, take care and stay safe..

  3. Real estate is often a good investment as these cottages show. The trick is knowing what is likely to rise in value. This is something most urban sociologists can predict.

  5. We all wish we had brought property when it was cheaper, and even accounting for inflation, it was much cheaper.

  7. I bet you knew I'd love these houses. Now that is a street I would love to walk along. And, that newspaper photo of the whales is awesome. That young one looks like it having such a good time.

  8. It is great that they are being renovated. I was sad to return to the street where I was born in the UK near Poole, only to find all the old houses had been knocked down and very ugly new houses built instead! In Kent though the house where my Mum was born still stands. Love the shot of the whale and calf :-) Take care Diane

  9. It's always a pleasure to see some old houses looking great many decades later. I do like the creative title for the whale story.

  18. I´d so love to see how the houses look like inside, Grace.
Must have proper insulation, aircon, fire protection, right?

  19. I think people in the early 20th century would be stunned to see what their lives would cost today. Last week in an antiques store I saw a shabby, rusty toy stove I played with as a child priced at US $125. It couldn't have cost more than $15 or $20 back in the day.
